The Sands of Etna Rosso DOC 2022 – Firriato

Le Sabbie dell'Etna Rosso DOC 2022, produced by Firriato, comes from vineyards located on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, in Castiglione di Sicilia. The blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, grown on sandy loam soils of volcanic origin, gives the wine a brilliant ruby ​​color with vibrant purple hues. The nose opens with a complex bouquet of cinnamon, black pepper, blackcurrant, and cherries preserved in alcohol, supported by a pronounced minerality typical of the Etna terroir.

On the palate, the red displays a balanced structure, silky tannins, and a lingering fruitiness of plum and blueberry, with a slightly spicy finish. At 14% ABV, it is best served at 16-18°C, a few minutes before serving. It pairs perfectly with red meats, rich first courses, and aged cheeses.
